How to Check Your MEPCO Bill by SMS, Step by Step

  1. Find your 14-digit reference number on an old MEPCO bill (see the next section).
  2. Open the messages app on your phone and start a new message.
  3. Type PITC, then one space, then the 14-digit number with no dashes or extra spaces.
  4. Send it to 8334.
  5. Wait a minute or two for the reply with your bill amount and due date.

Where to Find Your 14-Digit Reference Number

Look at the top-left of any printed MEPCO bill. The number is labelled Reference No. and has 14 digits. Your bill may also show a 10-digit consumer ID. For SMS, use the 14-digit reference number.

If you have no old bill, your bank, JazzCash, or Easypaisa payment receipt and earlier billing messages usually show it. The reference number does not change from month to month, so you only need to find it once.

Which Number Do I Text: 8334 or 8118?

Use 8334 to get your bill. The short code 8118 is listed as MEPCO’s SMS complaint service, so use it to report a problem such as a wrong reading or a power fault, not to fetch your bill. For other complaint options, see our MEPCO helpline guide.

What to Do If You Get No Reply

  • Check the format. It must start with PITC and one space, followed by exactly 14 digits.
  • Remove dashes and extra spaces from the number.
  • Check your signal and balance, then wait ten minutes and send it again.
  • Your bill may not be generated yet for this month, so the reply may be missing or show the earlier bill.
  • If it still fails, check the same number on our MEPCO bill checker, which also shows units and charges.

It is meant for MEPCO consumers in South Punjab: Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Vehari, Khanewal, Lodhran, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar and Pakpattan. The short codes work on the major mobile networks, but if your network does not deliver a reply, use the online method.

Other Ways to Check and Pay Your Bill

  • Check your full bill, including units and charges, and download a copy using our MEPCO bill checker.
  • Estimate next month’s bill with our MEPCO bill calculator.
  • See where and how to pay in our bill payment and installments guide.
Be careful with any message that asks you to click a link or share a card number to “clear” a bill. Pay through your bank or wallet app, and check the amount first.
